Meet our Board

Helen Carvosso – President Helen is Director of Marketing at RSM Bird Cameron. She is responsible for the marketing strategy of the firm nationally and managing the marketing team across RSM Bird Cameron’s 28 offices. Helen has 14 years’ experience creating and executing marketing campaigns for RSM Bird Cameron across the firm’s areas of expertise ranging from tax, audit and accounting to business solutions and corporate finance. Since 2010 Helen has been a Board member for the Sir Charles Gairdner Research Foundation, which facilitates fundraising for patient centred medical research at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in WA. She is also President of the YWCA, Perth, which is an organisation that aims to achieve positive change by providing advocacy, programs and services for women, families and communities.

 

Ruth

Ruth Prunster – Vice President Ruth joined Milbarra Club in 1971 and became a member of the Show Committee in 1984, continuing until the YWCA finished at the Royal Show in 2011. Other committees Ruth has served on were the Coffee Shop, Newsletter, Nominations and Membership, becoming Chairman of the latter in 1989. The first time she joined the Board of Directors was 1987 and has continued as a member since. Currently Ruth serves on the Membership, Nominations and Finance Committees and is one of the Vice Presidents on the Board of Directors. A Special Service Award was presented to Ruth in 1991 and Life Membership was awarded in 1998.

 

Beth Keely – Vice President Beth joined the YWCA of Perth in 1998 and was awarded a special service award in 2009. Beth has dedicated countless hours each week to community programs, serving on at least five different committees and volunteering as WA Encore coordinator for over 8 years.

Marie

Marie Wilson – Board Member Marie joined the Perth YWCA through the Monomeeth Club in 1971. Later joining the XYZ Group and then the Milbarra Club. She was first invited to join the Board of Directors in 1975 (which resulted in becoming Chairman of the Membership Council. Later she joined the Show and Catering Committee, catering for the Y as well as outside organisations (including supper in the Government House Ballroom). I worked at the Show for over 30 years until we discontinued in 2011. Other committees Marie has served on have been the Newsletter, Membership (including Membership records for a number of years) and Nominations. She was elected to the Board of Directors before becoming President in 2009 to 2011 inclusive. As well as volunteering, Marie was a member of staff while the Association was in Ord Street until our move to the Grand Central Hotel, then in the Beaufort Street office until our move to Osborne Park. Marie was privileged to receive a Special Service Award in 1989 and Life Membership in 2007.

Adele Gismondi – Board Member Adele joined the Board in 2004 and has held the role of treasurer and been an active member of the finance and sustainable funding committees. Adele has worked for the Water Corporation for 30 years. and she manages the delivery of 14 of the Corporation’s 17 Waterwise Programs across the state. Adele is wife to husband Frank of 26 years and mother to beautiful children, a 22 yo daughter, Raquel, and a 19 yo son, Adele is passionate about people and caring for others and wants to leave the world a better place than she found it. ‘ Making a difference’ inspires Adele to be involved in numerous charities and initiatives that aim to assist others.

Melissa Burford: Board member Melissa joined the YWCA Of Perth Board in 2014 and was previously a member of the YWCA Canberra Board where she received small grants to establish and manage two social enterprise projects, Contributed to the strategic direction of the organisation and provided financial and legal oversight Melissa represented the organisation at the YWCA Australia AGM and other events. As a member of the Nominations Committee, selected recipients for women’s leadership opportunities.
